Studio 109 is a Performance Studio

Studio 109 performers take the stage all year, not just at the end of the year recital. Studio 109 prides itself on giving back to the local community. Our dancers participate in many events including American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Rochester's National Night Out (promoting substance free living), the Rochester Zombie Walk, the Rochester Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, and the Lilac Family Fun Festival. Dancers perform for the elderly at Christmas-time and dance at a local church picnic. The studio also participates in a number of Chamber of Commerce events including the local Holiday Parade by creating a float and choreographing a Christmas dance routine. We have also had vocalists perform "The Star Spangled Banner" at many sporting and other events.

Our Performance Troupe is award winning and travels throughout New England to compete. On several occasions, have enjoyed performing during intermission at the Manchester Monarchs hockey games. In August 2006, Studio 109 dancers performed at the Statue of Liberty in New York. The performers and their families also were able to see Broadway shows and tour the city. The dancers took master classes with Broadway stars and classes at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan. Our dancers have also had the amazing opportunity to perform in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom! Dancers performed a 30 minute show in front of hundreds of guests and took a certified master class with a Disney Choreographer.

Performing is what we do best; we will make sure that whenever or wherever we can give our students the opportunity to perform, we will. Studio 109 is always looking for opportunities to expand our dancers' knowledge to help them to succeed as performers.

Drama Department

Studio 109's Drama Department was created to teach children community theatre. Students learn about all apsects of the theatre from performance to backstage and from hair and make-up to headshots. Our Drama Department is dedicated to helping young actors and actresses explore their creativity and help bring out their dramatic side. Students also learn about helping their community as proceeds from our drama shows benefit different charities each year. Gerry's Food Pantry of Rochester, NH, Food For The Poor, The Relay for Life and My Friends Place of Dover, NH are just a few of the local non-profits that have benefited form our drama performances.

Studio 109's Drama Department puts on one to two shows a year. Our "Evening of Drama" production is a dessert theatre, where all proceeds benefit the Studio 109 Relay for Life team. Most shows are musicals and involve singing and dancing. Some of the shows that we have performed over the years are: The Castaways, A Knight To Remember, The Return of the Glass Slipper, Nutcracker, Studio 109 Christmas Spectacular, Santa's Holiday Hoedown, Ducktails & Bobby Socks, Alice In Wonderland, Christmas in the Land of Oz, Willy Wonka, A Peter Pan Christmas and Snow White. Studio 109 looks forward to sharing future shows with our community while benefitting local organizations in need.

I had the privilege of teaching/coaching the competition team of Studio 109 in Gonic, NH. Had a wonderful time, love the students and had an adrenaline high. Thank you, Katie (one of my former students) and Mandy!
