Drama Department
Studio 109's Drama department was created to teach community theatre. All students learn all areas of the theatre from performance to backstage and from hair and make-up to headshots. Our Drama department is dedicated to helping young actors and actresses explore their creativity and help bring out their dramatic side. They also learn about helping their community as shows are done for different charities each year. Studio 109's Drama Department puts on two shows a year. Our " Evening of Drama" performances happen in the late fall and early spring. Most shows are musicals and involve singing and dancing. For the last 9 years our "Evening of Drama" performances have been donation only shows. No set price is collected for tickets instead we raise money for local charities. Gerry's Food Pantry of Rochester, NH, Food For The Poor, The Relay for Life and My Friends Place of Dover, NH are just a few of the local non-profits that have benefited form our drama performances. Some of the shows that we have performed over the last 9 years are: The Castaways, A Knight To Remember, The return of the Glass Slipper, Nutcracker, Studio 109 Christmas Spectacular, Santa's Holiday Hoedown, Ducktails & Bobby Socks and Alice In Wonderland. There have been many more and Studio 109 looks forward to what future shows we can do, and who we can help with our performances.

Studio 109 is a Performance Studio
Studio 109 performers perform throughout the year not just at the end of the year recital. Every year Studio 109 participates in the Rochester Holiday Parade. We are pleased to say we have won "Best of Parade" 5 times! All of our students are invited to be involved in the parade and we make a day of it with a little pre-parade BBQ. Studio 109 also performes in the annual "Lilac Family Fun Festival" each year; which is a free event for the community. Studio 109 dancers have also had the opportunity to perform in other local festivals shows and benefits and are featured in the "Rochester Divas Holiday" show every year. We have had vocalists perform the "Star Spangled Banner" at many sporting and other events. Our Performance Troupe is award winning and travels throughout New England to compete. In August 2006 Studio 109 dancers performed at the Statue of Liberty in New York, New York. The performers and their families also were able to see Broadway shows and tour the city. The dancers took master classes with Broadway stars and classes at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan. In April 2007 our dancers had the amazing opportunity to perform in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Dancers performed a 30 minute show in front of hundreds of guest and took a certified master class with a Disney Choreographer. Performing is what we do best; we will make sure that whenever or wherever we can give our students the opportunity to perform, we will. Studio 109 is always looking for opportunities to expand our dancers' knowledge to help them to succeed as performers.
